Picnicking is a time honored tradition that takes us back to simpler times and evokes happier memories. In this age of wars, failing economies, housing bubble bursts and any other number of critters going bump in the night, there are fundamental changes in our attitudes happening as I write. People find themselves longing for simpler times, for simpler experiences and a drawing together of at least one tangible constant in life, family and friends. That’s the inspiration behind Picnic Supplies and Ideas.

It’s difficult to put into words but there’s a sense of peace dining on a blanket in a rolling meadow with that special someone or the family you know will always be there for you even if you might argue over whose turn it is in the bathroom or who gets the last chicken leg. At the risk of repeating myself, we crave simpler times. What could be simpler than breaking bread with those we love?

Our own families have passed down the picnic tradition for generations. What started on my side of the family as pastoral outings in the German countryside was enjoyed on my wife’s side of the family as large family gatherings on the eastern shore. Though the settings may have been vastly different, the results were the same and the memories are simply different canvasses by the same artist. No two picnics are the same, but they all share an unquantifiable something. Something good.

Our blog hopes to help you capture those experiences yourself. Whether you want to just spend time with kids who seem to be growing up to fast, wow the gal of your dreams or strengthen the bond of a corporate team, picnics can serve as the centerpiece of your efforts.

We hope our Picnic Supplies blog helps you find what you’re looking for. Come back soon for great ideas, picnic games, mouth-watering picnic recipes, wine recommendations and special destination suggestions. We wish you an ant-free picnic and bon appetit!
